Robert Mackey III

Robert Mackey is a sports & entertainment financial professional based in Charlotte, NC. He focuses on providing a roadmap for businesses to help them attain growth within the industry. Robert utilizes all the tools and resources of the firm within this critical platform in an effort to ensure his client base is better equipped to achieve their goals.

Robert’s client base reflects individuals in Sports and Entertainment. He obtained the prestigious designation of Sports & Entertainment Associate Director through Morgan Stanley’s Global Sports & Entertainment (GSE) division, dedicated to serving the unique and sophisticated needs of professional athletes & entertainers. The resources provided through the Global Sports & Entertainment division allowed Robert to be a valuable asset to his client base and beyond while at Morgan Stanley. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Robert worked for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Robert attended Winston-Salem State University, a historically black college and university (HBCU), in Winston-Salem, NC and received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Sports played a major role for Robert; while serving as a Linebacker at Winston-Salem State University, Robert achieved the notable Street & Smith’s Black College Football All-American honors and went on to sign a professional contract with the NFL, serving as a Linebacker with the Houston Texans.

In 2019, Robert joined the NFL Player Engagement’s Leadership and Advocacy group to help bridge access & opportunity to underrepresented/underserved minority communities. He currently serves on 4 boards including the African-American Community Foundation, Bethea Family Foundation, United Way of York County, and the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

In 2011, Robert started the Lydia Smith Foundation, in his mom’s namesake, to help families affected by sickle cell disease; introducing inner-city youths to opportunities in healthcare. In his pursuit to achieve one of his major goals, Robert is building a community center, whose primary attributes are affordable housing and mixed income housing in his childhood neighborhood of Fort Mill, SC.

Robert lives in Lake Wylie, SC with his wife Stephanie and daughter Sophia (2). Enjoys live music, stand-up comedy, and entertaining family and friends.
